A Message from the Executive Director
Welcome to the Office of the Executive Director.
Welcome to the Central Massachusetts Collaborative!
It is with enthusiasm, pride and sincerest appreciation that I welcome you to our newly designed webpage, “flagship” campus at 14 New Bond St. Worcester, so you can explore our exceptional programming for the 500 students that we service from over 30 communities in Massachusetts and few in Connecticut as well. Our mission at CMC has been the same since our inception in 1974:
As we continue to evaluate and further develop programs to complement and strengthen the needs of our member districts, CMC strives to build capacity, thereby enhancing and increasing educational opportunities for all students. Ongoing civic partnerships further foster student understanding of the role they have as equal and dynamic citizens. Our practices are consistent with the overall mission of increasing students’ self-determination, independence, and academic achievement.
As a former teacher, principal and superintendent, I can honestly say that I have never worked with a more talented, creative and dedicated group of teachers, counselors, clinicians, Instructional assistants and administrators who skillfully and passionately provide incredible learning opportunities for our students. As the parent of a severely disabled adult son who “has walked the long road” of advocating, supporting, creating outreach networks, community opportunities and career pathways through constant communication and partnership with the school community, I must say that I am heartened each and every day by the outreach and communication between my staff and the students and families that we serve. The staff, student, student and community bond at Central Massachusetts Collaborative is nothing short of amazing and inspirational. As existing, new or potential future CMC community members, I encourage you to contact us to schedule a tour our new facility at 14 New Bond St. and you will experience the positive learning environments and staff by just walking through our hallways, classrooms, Active Sensory and Calming Sensory rooms, OT/PT room, gymnasium, 20,000 s.f. play area, health center, music rooms, six vocational programs (Culinary, Cosmetology, Animation/ TV Media, Print and Design, Custodial Services and Marketing/ Business) as well as our Professional Development Center. I also invite you to our upcoming Grand Opening and Open House event schedule for October 24th 2017, from 5:00 pm to 8:00pm, tours will be given by staff and students and light refreshments with be served.
I look forward to meeting and connecting with you all on October 24th at 14 New Bond St.!
Michael C. Tempesta
